Dr. Mark Evans, Ph.D., is a composer, conductor, pianist, and organist with a multifaceted background in music, writing, broadcasting, and education. He literally grew up in the world of film music in Hollywood and has studied with legendary composers such as Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Roy Harris. Dr. Evans is founder and president of the foundation “Cultural Conservation,” which is dedicated to preserving America’s cultural resources as carefully as its natural ones.​

He is the author of acclaimed books including “Mark! My Words,” which explores America’s ongoing cultural crisis—from the vanishing of classical music, jazz, film scores, and musical theater to the loss of good books, art, and historical awareness in schools and society. His book “Soundtrack: The Music of the Movies” is recognized as the definitive work on film scoring. Dr. Evans hosts the “Mark! My Words” television and radio programs and has written columns for The New York City Tribune.​
