As Public Media Funding Gets Slashed, Faith-Based Studios Rise with Purposeful, Wholesome Content for American Families

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In the wake of President Trump’s May 17 Executive Order terminating federal funding to NPR and PBS due to concerns over political bias and misuse of taxpayer dollars, a new wave of family-centered and faith-based media is rising to fill the void—bringing hope, heritage, and heroic storytelling back to the forefront. Leading the charge is Brainy Pixel Animation Studios, an Alabama-based faith-forward animation company known for bold creativity and Gospel-rooted storytelling. With animation credits spanning from YouTube shorts to full-length features, Brainy Pixel has recently secured a slate of new projects, including the highly anticipated Super Scout: an animated show for kids — inspired by the real-life rescue stories of a canine companion of trauma specialist and counter-terrorism trainer Victor Marx. Written and animated by Brainy Pixel and sister studio Creator Films, directed by David Dietrich and marketed by Jeff Roman at EPIC, Super Scout is the first of several projects positioned to become part of an uplifting alternative to traditional children’s programming. “Families are starving for truth-telling, soul-shaping content,” says Dietrich. “We’re not just animating a film; we’re restoring what Saturday mornings used to mean.” But Brainy Pixel isn’t alone. From ancient Israel to modern living rooms, the Wonder Project’s “House of David” series is capturing the hearts of millions. Streaming now on Amazon Prime Video, the series follows the biblical shepherd-turned-king David in an epic production being compared to Game of Thrones—without the gore, but rich with moral depth. Created by Jon Erwin, and starring Michael Iskander as David, the show is riding a tidal wave of support from both the faith-based and mainstream audience. With Season 2 already greenlit, the show has become a flagship in a renaissance of meaningful, high-caliber entertainment. Meanwhile, faith-based comics are finding new life on bookshelves. LifeStone Discipleship Ministries has launched Chronicles of Faith: David—a vibrant, action-packed comic series designed for ages 4–16. Written and Illustrated by a cooperative team of Brainy Pixel and Mercy Ways Studios, an award-winning Salvadorian Christian comics company, and steeped in biblical truth, the series reimagines David’s courage and faith through a modern visual lens, offering young readers a new kind of hero: one who trusts in something far greater than himself. “Parents are looking for content that builds character, not just keeps kids busy,” said Brannon Hollingsworth, CCO at Brainy Pixel. “We’re answering that call with excellence.” And as The Chosen by Dallas Jenkins continues to shatter streaming records in Season 5, it’s clear that a powerful cultural shift is underway. From mobile apps to movie theaters, The Chosen is proving that when faith-filled storytelling meets modern distribution, global impact follows.

The Future of Media Is Faith-Filled, Family-First, and Fiercely Creative With PBS and NPR sidelined by federal funding cuts, media consumers are turning toward independent studios and storytellers that champion virtue, value, and vision. The market is responding—contracts are being awarded, subscriptions are rising, and creative teams across the nation are stepping into the gap with a renewed sense of mission. The opportunity to reach the next generation with faith-based, transformative content is not just emerging—it’s here, and it’s urgent. This moment marks more than a cultural shift; it’s a revolution of redemption in the media world. With traditional funding sources shifting and mainstream platforms reevaluated, the power to fund what matters now rests where it arguably always belonged—in the hands of the audience. Thousands of families, churches, and individual donors are stepping up to support stories that inspire, uplift, and ground the next generation in truth, beauty, and purpose. From animated heroes to biblical epics, from graphic novels to interactive storytelling—faith-based content is being fueled by those who believe in its message. If you’d like to be part of this movement, you can join the growing community of faith-first funders championing the rise of redemptive media. Now is the time to support these projects—and more like them.
