Out of the Mafia, Into Grace

Meet Robert Borelli

Robert Borelli

‘At the age of 20, I was arrested for two murders and possession of a gun and I was paraded around as the up and coming star of the Gambino Crime Family. If God can save me, he can save anyone.’ — Robert Borelli

Robert Borelli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1954, in the middle of the Gambino Crime Family neighborhood. As a young boy he quickly built a reputation as a little tough guy. Surrounded by real tough guys he began working for The Gambino’s by fourteen. By twenty he had two murder wraps and numerous arrests under his belt. He was being paraded around the neighborhood as the up and coming star of the feared Gambino Family, the same family which John Gotti would eventually bring into the main stream media and make a household name.

Robert Borelli was once a rising star in the New York Mafia’s biggest crime family. But his gangster lifestyle—and a crippling drug addiction—eventually landed him in prison, abandoned by everyone who he knew could help him. When his three-year-old daughter asked him in tears why he didn’t visit her, despair crashed over him and he cried out: “God, either have me killed or change me—I don’t want to live like this anymore. Please help me!” He began reading the Bible and became a new man in Christ, along with becoming a new person under the Federal Witness Protection Program. Today Robert is blessed by his wife Patricia and is passionate about sharing the truth about God’s transformative power with others.

He has gained some intense formal education in his newfound faith. Mr. Borelli’s story baffles the mind and intrigues the hearts of all who hear it.

His passion and calling is to share his story as a preventive to those who are in similar situations, and encourage each of us to find the Truth about who we really are.

Today, as he tours around the world, he candidly, emotionally and passionately shares his life story with all who will listen.

The Witness: A Tale of the Life and Death of a Mafia Madman

Robert Borelli - The WitnessRaised in the heart of an aging Brooklyn neighborhood, Robert was a small but fiery, attention-deprived Italian boy, drawn to the flashy lifestyle of neighborhood wiseguys. His early years ushered in the opportunity to become a part of that world, as he began running errands and selling illegal goods for these same men. Simultaneously, his reputation as a fierce fighter grew, and by the time he was a young adult, he had made an impression on influential members of the Gambino crime family. After beating a murder rap, he was on his way to Mafia stardom, mentored and protected by one of the most prominent wise guys In New York City. While the pleasure of notoriety was fulfilling, a powerful addiction to drugs soon overrode it, negating Robert’s credibility among his mobster brothers. Even the bond of fatherhood wasn’t enough to draw him out of his chemically-dependent prison. In his mind, the situation left him with only two possible conclusions; either he will die overdosing, or the men to whom he swore allegiance will silence him before the drugs have a chance. The Witness is the compelling account of the hard and fast life of an “up-and-coming star” within the Mafia ranks, the downward spiral created by his addiction to drugs, and his spiritual rebirth spurred by the heart-wrenching plea of his little girl.

Judd Saul

Drawing on firsthand investigations in Benue, Plateau, Taraba, and Yobe states, he exposes the reality of organized “kill zones” where Christians are being driven from ancestral lands through mass killings, kidnappings, and terror tactics that mirror ISIS in the Middle East. Saul explains how Western governments and media have repeatedly misread this violence—hiding behind terms like “farmer‑herder clashes,” “banditry,” or “climate conflict”—and why that misframing fuels weak policy, ignores victims, and emboldens perpetrators of ethno‑religious cleansing.
